In an election year, when States are colored either red or
blue, and the airwaves are filled with derision, America seems anything but United.
Each side is passionate about their issues, their candidates, their ideas. In
truth it seems like the most divisible time for our nation.
If we allow ourselves to become cynical because of politics,
we loose sight of what a privileged place America is. In this country we have
the right to disagree, and we do so openly and passionately without killing one
another. No matter how broken our system, over 118 million Americans went out
to the polls to cast their vote for who would be the leaders of our country.
This is a right and a privilege that many have died to give us. This is
democracy. This is the power of the people and it worked.
But now that the election is over, now that the attack ads
are done, now that the winners are declared, we MUST move on; we MUST Unite
again.
For in our democracy we ARE ONE nation, filled with people
from all nationalities and colors. We each have different ideas and agendas. We
each have deep rooted beliefs and ideals. We should not forsake these. We
simply must recognize that no matter our differences, the truth is we are still
One nation, One people.
Let us vow to affirm our Unity, and to work together to make
our nation, our system and our planet a better place for all. And finally, let
us not forget that the United
States of America is a member of a larger community:
the inhabitants of the earth. We face tough times on our planet, we must work
together to survive and thrive. Now is the time to be the United
State of America!
